Writing Prompt 3/8/2013: “She stared at her reflection in the silver spoon.”

The result of this prompt:

She stared at her reflection in the silver spoon.

A moment with simple eyes and a relaxed mouth.

Only to reflect, reflect, reflect.

Bitten lower lip and slow thought process…

She came about, silver and round with a new awareness.

The introspection is almost over and slowly it drips down into the world that is made of water.

Poetry Prompt #2

The result of a poetry prompt found here:

It happened in a moment

my wet, churning heart locked

in a vice

it beats through the flexible metal.

second to second. Then comes contact

everything slack…

emotions expand

ex-plo-sion

the web, protection against a careful weapon spreads

to stave off the effect that switches from form to form,  needle to feather,  poison to cure

Poetry Prompt

The result of a Poetry Prompt that I found here :

The pull…the abyss.

Purple smoldering documentation of one’s life.

Light beings are mentioned in the clouds to

remind me that life is an ongoing choice.

how and why we stretch to match the Mother’s Spiral

The Darkness is now an equal part of the Light.

The Consciousness of Creativity

“And I found that when I built my own place and just shut the door, the creativity was endless.”
~Billy Sherwood

Hello readers!

I apologize for being away for so long, but it was all in good usage! I am already feeling the busy  energy of Summer that is starting to permeate everywhere. I can honestly say that it has made me  into a creative machine! So I have a few fairly new things share since I have last posted…which means visuals of what I have been up to lately, either hot off the fire of creativity or some things that I have been reworking: mostly collage (digital and paper form), poetry, and of course photography! Here they are and I hope you enjoy them:

Collages:

Collage that I did on the front of my primary writing notebook.

“The Beauty in Death” -Digital Collage made in Adobe Photoshop CS4

“May Garden” -Digital Collage made in Adobe Photoshop CS4

Photography:

Poetry:

“Unbitten”

A package deal. Soft, languorous

Still

Unbitten, the nape of the fruit.

Guidence.

Postured for receiving un-named

Pieces of time.

Panic

Nestled underneath the subtle colors of wood grain.

Sky and tree too.

“Compatable Kiss”

An idea of a compatible kiss:

Slow, lucid…breathing life into my heart bones, steeling itself against rusty paper inquisitiveness.

A whispered answer in a doubtfully light manner to consume the two into summer only to decide what the world looks like from a string of rancid pearls.

“Hazardous Sinew”

If you look closely, each person that comes into our life has the intensity of a fire which is always burning, raw and eternal.

Yet we have no nerve to cut the weight of hazardous sinew away, while sitting on the doorstep waiting for the differences of the new hours to come crawling forward.

Wet

Hungry

With eyes so deep and troublesome, they might as well be a mirror.

But I have had a need to welcome them inside anyhow.

“Out of Control = Death”

The sea flows to me to indulge in my Soul when I am alone.

The clear, cold bones of the tide kiss me with the kind of abandon that I don’t let myself feel.

Out of Control = Death.

Only to break the maidenhead of such quiet and solitary ways, a gate against such embraces that wrack the nerves making the heart tremble and stumble.

So has anyone else felt the amazing energy of the impending Summer? I would love to see what you have to say in the comment section!

The Pleasantries of Poetry

What is it about poetry that inspires us to greater heights of thought, finally forming the long lost thought that we are truely spiritual beings beyond our flesh and bones?

I find the cadences from which the way  words flow and wind around us is a great indication of our strength in the Soul and the Mind, that we truly in fact do project our “essence” into the world to make it a more satisfying and bearable place when sometimes our  human shell can only comprehend and understand so much.

I remember back when I was quite young learning about poetry for the first time in elementary school, but mostly about the rhyming variety. And for some unknown (but most likely silly) reason, I vowed from that day forward that I HATED poetry and would never write any, only stories. Now, fast forwarding to QUITE a few years later, poetry is my main form of written expression and I only write fiction occasionally. I think that back then I had some sort of subconscious whisper from my future self that I was going to rebel in such an unconventional, beautiful, and profound way through free verse poetry after being such a quiet and almost painfully shy little girl; I WAS going to come out of the other side stronger and wiser.

Now all the poets of the world: BE PROUD!  Poetry is one of THE HARDEST forms of writing to write. KNOW you have sent your words from the ink on your page into the air to change our world just as some other poets have done before you; They are proud of you and your courage to open up in such a way to the world.

And not to forget the readers of poetry: By just re-reading the works of  other poets, your thoughtful views on their precious work makes it take on new colors and textures which we need in such a vast world which makes it that much more beautiful; don’t EVER discount that!

And to bring a thoughtful end to this post: What are your thoughts about poetry? Do you have any favorite poets?  Do even write your own poetry or are you just a devoted reader of it? Let me know in the comment section!

Fondly,

CarrieLynn
